The Royal Rest Pillow was rated as the best pillow for neck support
Best Memory Foam Pillow for neck support.
The contoured shape of this Royal Rest pillow boldly stands out from your standard rectangular pillow shape. Mindfully designed, it comes with two firm cores for maximum comfort and support. Its height varies at either end too – from 11cm on one side, to 13cm at its highest side – and this is quite a loft compared to your standard pillow design.
The pillow provides one side for a ‘moderate level of lift and support’ and the other for a ‘more marked level of support’. You can buy it in either a standard or maxi size to suit a range of head shapes and neck lengths and opt for either standard foam or memory foam depending on how much contouring you want.
Fran tried the maxi memory foam design over the course of a week to see how well it supported her neck as she slept. Not used to such a high pillow, she wasn’t sure she was going to like it at first. ‘As I have arthritis in my neck, I found this pillow to be firm but soft enough that it was also comfortable,’ she says.
‘It didn’t make me feel too hot as some foams can either. I used it for five nights and only felt a little pain on the third night. I think it’s a very good idea to have two levels for different shoulder to neck space and my head seemed to mould well into the side. I find it far more malleable than my orthopaedic pillow I regularly use and I seem to get a far better sleep on it with far less neck pain in the morning.’
